The project consists of preparation of Detailed Engineering Design & tender documents of camp facilities, civil works (surface & underground), hydro-mechanical & electro-mechanical works of Brahmayani Hydroelectric Project (BHEP – 45 MW), and other assignment as per ToR. The proposed Brahmayani Hydroelectric Project (BHEP) will utilize the flow available in Lagan Khola and Nyamya Masal Khola which is the tributary of the Balephi River. The Balephi River is later merges into one of the main river, the Sunkoshi River which itself is the main tributary of the Sapta Koshi River Basin.
The project consist of two major source of water, one from Lagan Khola and the other from Nyamya Masal Khola. The Lagan Khola headworks structures such as diversion weir, intake, undersluice, gravel trap, desander basin of the project lie at the left bank of Lagan Khola. Likewise, the waterways of BHEP including headrace pipe, headrace tunnel, surge shaft, steel lined vertical shafts and horizontal penstock tunnel, surface powerhouse and switchyard lie at the right bank of Balephi Khola. The proposed powerhouse site is at the right bank of Balephi Khola which is approximately 6 km downstream from the confluence of Nyamya Masal Khola and Lagan Khola at Ladanbesi. The powerhouse will be surface type and it will consist of three units of Horizontal axis Pelton Turbines. As per Project Updating Report, the generated energy is proposed to evacuate at Patang Sub-station, 15 km long 132 kV Double Circuit Transmission Line.
