The project consist of preparation of Due Diligence Study of the project for financing purpose with the consortium of banks which is lead by Banijya bank. The Consultant has completed all the assignment as per ToR.
The proposed Lankhuwa Khola Hydroelectric Project will utilize the flow available in Lankhuwa Khola and Orang Khola, the tributaries of Sabha Khola in the Koshi Basin. As per the Draft Detailed Project Report and Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), the design discharge of the project is 4.43 m3/s at probability exceedance of 43.60%. The project consists of two Headworks, one at Lankhuwa Khola (Right bank) and another at Orang Khola (Left bank). The project is designed for a design discharge of 4.43 m3/s with a gross head of 142 m. Both diversion weirs, having weir crest level at 695 m amsl (for both intakes), lies approximately 200 m upstream of the confluence of Lankhuwa Khola and Orang Khola. The headworks arrangement at Lankhuwa is located on the right bank of Lankhuwa Khola whereas, at Orang Khola, the headworks arrangement is proposed at the left bank. The headworks arrangement consists of intake, gravel trap, approach canal, and settling basin. The design flow is diverted from intake-gravel trap to settling basin via approach canal and the flow is collected at headpond from both settling basins, proposed at the location of the confluence of Lankhuwa and Orang Khola. The flow then passes through 1.7 m diameter of about 1982 m long and 1.50 m diameter of about 650 m long headrace pipe up to Surge Tank. A short tunnel of length 340 m is proposed in the initial stretch of the waterway. Then after, the 1.50 m dia., 650 m long penstock pipe has been proposed between surge tank and bifurcation point, which conveys the flow to the powerhouse located on a flood plain at the left bank of Lankhuwa Khola. The powerhouse consists of 2 units of horizontal axis Francis turbines to generate 5.0 MW power. The generated energy is proposed to evacuate at proposed Khadbari Substation via 18 km long 33 kV single circuit Transmission Line.
