The project consist of preparation of Due Diligence Study of the project for financing purpose with the consortium of banks which is lead by Machhapuchhre bank. The Consultant has completed all the assignment as per ToR.
The proposed Mid Hongu Khola –B Hydropower Project will utilize the flow available in Hongu Khola, the tributary of Dudhkoshi Kola in the Koshi Basin. As per the Feasibility Study Report (FSR) and Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), the design discharge of the project is 19.30 m3/s and 18.47 m3/s at probability exceedance of 40 % and 40.80 % respectively. The headworks arrangement of the project is located at the right bank of Hongu Khola. The project is designed for a design discharge of 19.30 m3/s with a gross head of 147.5 m as per the Feasibility Study Report. The diversion weir with weir crest level at 1358.00 m amsl, lies approximately 250 m upstream of the confluence of Hongu River and Phulpati Khola. The headworks arrangement consists of intake, under-sluice, gravel trap, approach canal, and settling basin. The design flow is diverted from intake-gravel trap to settling basin via approach canal and the flow is collected at conventional forebay at the end of settling basin. The flow then passes through the inverted D-shape tunnel of final dimension 4.1 m wide and 4.1 m high of length 4100 m up to surge shaft. Then after, the 2.60 m dia., 402 m long penstock pipe has been proposed between surge tank and bifurcation point, which conveys the flow to the powerhouse located on a flood plain at the left bank of Hongu Khola. The powerhouse consists of 2 units of vertical axis Francis turbines to generate 22.90 MW power. The generated energy is proposed to evacuate at Tingla Substation via 20 km long 132 kV double circuit Transmission Line.
