The project consist of preparation of Geophysical Investigation of Upper Nyasem Khola Hydroelectric Project (43 MW), carry out the construction planning and scheduling and preparation of drawings. The consultant has completed all the assignment as per ToR.

The proposed Upper Nyasem Khola Hydroelectric Project (43 MW) is located in Jugal Rural Municipality, Bagmati Province, Nepal. The project area can be reach through a gravel road from Balephi up to Ambakharka. Ambakharka is located at a distance of about 45 km from Balephi Bazaar which is located on Araniko Highway. Balephi bazaar is located about 72 km north from Kathmandu. Upper Nyasem Khola Hydropower Project is a run-of-river type of hydropower project and has installed capacity of 43 MW with design discharge of 5.87 m3/sec and rated net head of 845.96 m. The project is capable of delivering 239.14 GWh (dependent system) of energy annually to NEA grid at proposed 132 kV at Pantan substation.

Overall Services provided by firm

The scope of the consultancy services includes, but not limited to, following major activities:


  • Establishment of 2D Electrical Resistivity sections SRT (total length of 408 m) and ERT (total length of 3770 m) to show different layers of lithological strata and thickness of the overburden colluvial and alluvial soil materials at Headworks, HRP, Portals, Penstock and Powerhouse areas.

  • Field test such as MASW (21 Nos.) and MAM (4 Nos.) is carried out to find depths of rock head and rock mass condition up to the depth of investigation.

  • Field test to find weak zones, fault zone and water bearing zones in the specified survey areas.

  • Field test to find out plane of weakness for slope stability, deformed zones in bedrock, slopes and slides, sheared zones etc.

  • Preparation of analytical results in standard graphical format

  • Report Preparation
