The project consist of preparation of Feasibility Study Report of Doodhpokhari Chepe Hydropower Project (8.8 MW), carry out the construction planning and scheduling and preparation of drawings. The consultant has completed all the assignment as per ToR.

The proposed Doodhpokhari Chepe Hydropower Project is located in Ajirkot Rural Municipality of Gorkha District .The project area can be accessed via Prithivi Highway through Abukhaireni-Chanaute road. Around 4 km access road shall be constructed to reach power house site from the nearest road head. Doodhpokhari Chepe Hydropower Project is a run-of-river type of hydropower project and has capacity of 8.8 MW with design discharge of 1.26m3/sec and rated net head of 846.08 m. The project is capable of delivering 56.19 GWh of energy annually to NEA grid at proposed 33 kV substation at Kirtipur, Lumjung.

Overall services provided by firm

The scope of services includes, but not limited to, carrying out the following activities as the main design consultant:


  • Supervise Detailed topographic survey of headwork site, powerhouse, pipe alignment 3 km and access roads,

  • Hydrological analysis, rating curve, low flow analysis, and sediment study,

  • Geological assessment and assessment of construction materials, Estimation of energy generation,

  • Detailed Hydraulic of the project components that include:

    1. Diversion weir with total length of 11 m and height of overflow weir 2 m, with design discharge capacity 1.26 m3/s

    2. Sizing of Intake orifices (2 numbers of orifices each of size 1.5 m wide x 1.54 m high and bed sluicer (length 3.22 m, width 3.98 m and depth with free board 3.74 m)

    3. Settling Basin with double chamber, length 36 m, width 3 m total depth (5.5 m) with trapping efficiency 95 % for 0.2 mm continuous flushing type

    4. Optimization and design of 1755 m long steel headrace pipe (dia- 1 m) and 3119 m long penstock pipe (dia-0.5 m to 1.0 m) varying thickness 6 mm to 36 mm



  • Powerhouse surface type 37 m x 17.22 m x 16.5 m with provision of 2 units of Pelton turbines Brushless Synchronous, Centre Line of Runners

  • Design of 4 km Access Road

  • Study of 33 kV transmission line for National Grid to Kirtipur Substation, Lamjung from PH of the project

  • Preparation of rate ananlysis, quantity estimate and cost estimation

  • Preparation of construction schedule.

  • Supervise Social and environment monitoring with recommendation and implementation of appropriate social and environment mitigation measures.
