Job Description


  • Assist the Team Leader/Construction Manager in the review of design and drawing related to Transmission Line

  • Assist the Team Leader/Construction Manager in the construction supervision and progress monitoring of the Transmission Line

  • Assist the Team Leader/Construction Manager in all other activities as entrusted by the Team Leader

  • Ensure the adherence of all the safety norms as per the safety regulation of the construction of Transmission Line during the whole construction cycle

  • Assist the client for the factory inspection of Transmission Line Equipment and provide recommendation for issuance of dispatch clearance of the Transmission Line Equipment

  • Under the direction of the Team Leader/Construction Manager for Transmission Lines, execute and/or oversee a range of project implementation and support activities as defined by the project plan ensuring that these are delivered on a timely basis to support broader project initiatives and objectives, and ensure consistency of quality;

  • Establish and implement effective contract and project management processes to support oversight of design, supervision; consistent monitoring of activity budgets; monitoring and updating of project timelines and milestones; quality assurance and quality control; and regular reporting processes;

  • Under direction of the Team Leader/Construction Manager; leads Transmission Lines activity to ensure coordination of technical requirements for successful implementation of the transmission line project.

  • As necessary, supervise junior engineering staff to execute work through technical guidance, quality control, and/ or mentoring;

  • Prepare and record maps, sketches, reference documents and reports, of surveys in the standard format defined by the organization

  • Review and record the results of surveys, including the contour, elevation, shape, location, and dimensions of land and features

  • Calculate and verify the accuracy of survey data of survey sites

  • Develop and implement the system to record all important documents and other related to site control and mapping works

  • Duties before welding

  • Verify that the material is

  • – in accordance with drawing / WPS

  • – identified and traced to a test certificate

  • – in suitable condition (free from damage and contamination)

  • WPS is approved and available to welders (and inspectors from the contractors).

  • Welding equipment is in suitable condition and calibrated as appropriate.

  • Weld preparations are in accordance with WPS (and/or drawings).

  • Identification of welders qualification for each WPS to be used and all welder qualification certificates are valid.

  • Welding consumables to be used are

  • - as specified by the WPS

  • - stored/controlled as specified by the QC procedure.

  • Joint fit-ups are in accordance with WPS / drawings

  • Tack welds are acceptable per standards, code or WPS.

  • Weld faces are free from defects, contamination, and damage.

  • The minimum temperature for Preheat (if required) is in accordance with WPS.

  • Coordinate with other contractor for interface works

  • Duties during welding

  • Ensure weather conditions are suitable / comply with Code (conditions will not affect welding) when on-site / field welding.

  • Welding process must be in accordance with WPS.

  • Preheat (if required) minimum temperature is being maintained in accordance with WPS.

  • Inter-pass temperature maximum temperature is in accordance with WPS.

  • Welding consumables are in accordance with WPS and being controlled as the procedure.

  • Welding parameters e.g. Current, volts, travel speed are in accordance with WPS.

  • Root run is visually acceptable to Code before filling the joint (for single sided welds).

  • Gouging / grinding is  allowed by an approved method and to a good workmanship standard.

  • Inter-run cleaning must be at a good workmanship standard.

  • The welder is on the approval register /qualified for the WPS being used.

  • Coordinate with other contractor for interface works

  • Duties after welding

  • Each weld is marked with the welder’s identification and is identified in accordance with the drawing/weld map.

  • Ensure welds appearance is suitable for all NDT (profile, cleanness, etc) and visually inspect welds and sentences in accordance with Code.

  • Check to ensure the dimensions are in accordance with drawing/Code.

  • Ensure any modifications are included on as-built drawings.

  • Ensure all NDT is complete and reports are available for records.

  • Monitor repair work in accordance with the procedure.

  • Monitor PWHT  process (if required)  for compliance with the procedure (check chart record).

  • Ensure test equipment for Pressure/load test  (if required) is calibrated. Monitor test to ensure compliance with procedure/Code and ensure reports/records are available.

  • Ensure all reports/records are completed and collated as required.

  • Monitor the Contractor to evaluate if they are providing sufficient receiving inspection and storage of electrical components and materials.

  • Check by observation and/ or direct inspection, the proper routing, connection and/or termination of powerhouse electrical cabling. Check the Contractor is completing cabling routing and termination records.

  • Check by observation and/ or direct inspection, the correct installation and final setting of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, bus duct, switchgear and switchboards, etc. Check completion of Equipment Installation Cards,

  • Participate in completion inspections and testing of powerhouse electrical and instrument/ control systems.

  • Witness performance testing of electrical components and systems at site.

  • To ensure transmission line works is being carried out as per approved design and drawings

  • Coordinate with Team leader, design team, contractor and client regarding any issues relevant to the construction of transmission line works

  • To verify the site works/quantity executed as per joint measurements

  • Assess the adequacy of the Contractors work and its compliance with the contract documents. Notify the Team Leader/Construction Manager and the Contractor of defective work. Document and track the occurrence of and resolution of defective work

  • Monitor the work to evaluate that it is being performed by qualified and, where specified, by certified personnel

  • Coordinate with the other contractor for interface works.
